The "Charity Casino" in Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada !
The old Shell Game ?
When the idea of a commercial or charity casino was first put forward in Thunder Bay, many opposed the idea of setting up a Casino in Thunder Bay. We at the time had smaller roaming casino's in the city, and any move in the direction of a casino was seen as bad news.
A plebescite was held to vote on a commercial casino, a charity casino or no casino. Well the use of the word "charity" became the "carrot" that led this donkey in the direction of allowing any casino in the city.
Charity, well today the City of Thunder Bay gets 5% of the revenue from the slot machines. A minor amount that does not seem appropriate in allowing this casino to use the term Charity.
We are in Canada, eh ?
